Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND) Policy

At Highbank we can offer…

  • 1:1 support from a Teaching Assistant or small group work
  • A fully equipped sensory room
  • Learning aids such as electronic dictionaries, voice recorders and dyslexia friendly resources
  • Individualised curriculums
  • Visual timetables
  • A range of learning interventions such as Numicon and The Active Literacy Kit
  • Additional parent meetings to review progress
  • Emotional Literacy screening and programmes of work
  • Screening for Dyslexia
  • Access to a range of outside services such as Behaviour Support, the Autism Team, Educational Psychologists and the Learning Team.
  • Parental support for Secondary transition
  • Help and advice for parents, including attending medical appointments and help with form filling.

We continually add to this list as the needs of the children we cater for change, so watch this space!

New for 2016!!

We will be introducing a sensory afternoon which will incorporate:

      •   Musical Interaction
      •   Lego Therapy
      •   Playdough/ clay/ goo
      •   Use of large PE equipment
      •   Sand and water
      •   Baking
      •   Gardening
      •   Sensory walks

      •   Plus much more!

This will occur once a week and will be open to any child in school who may benefit, irrespective of year group
